NFL ban Miami Dolphins running back Ricky Williams for drugs
Controversial Miami Dolphins running back Ricky Williams has been banned for the NFL's 2006-07 season following his fourth positive drugs test, and he failed in trying to get them to overturn his latest offence in a meeting with NFL lawyers on 10 April.
"I'm disappointed with the decision but I respect it," said Ricky Williams in a statement.
Ricky Williams had previously tested positive for marijuana and he retired from the NFL aged 27 in 2004 but he made a comeback with Miami last year.
When he retired for the first time, Ricky Williams said: "I just don't want to be in this business anymore."
Ricky Williams was seen as a potential NFL great after doing really well at college; however, he failed to live up to his potential with the New Orleans Saints and was troubled by personal problems off the field.
Ricky Williams joined Miami in 2002 to try and kick-start his career, but after getting off to a good start, his problems returned to haunt him and he left the sport two years later.
