Jeff Garcia inspires Philadelphia Eagles to beat Carolina A scoring drive from back-up quarterback Jeff Garcia inspired Philadelphia Eagles' 27-24 win over Carolina Panthers.
Jeff Garcia, 36, had failed to make much impression on the home fans until his 40-yard touchdown pass found Reggie Brown and then the next attack set up David Akers for a 25-yard field goal.
Even after that though it still took a pass interception by Lito Sheppard with 25 seconds left to stop Jake Delhomme making a match-winning touchdown pass for the Carolina Panthers.
Both the Philadelphia Eagles and the Carolina Panthers now join Atlanta and the Giants at 6-6 in the NFC wildcard standings.
Donovan McNabb will be away for the remainder of the season due to an injured knee, and despite decent performances so far Jeff Garcia had failed to impress the Philadelphia Eagles fans.
But he put an end to all those who were criticising him when he completed 21-of-39 pass attempts for 312 yards, including touchdowns to Reggie Brown, Brian Westbrook and Donte Stallworth.
