Indianapolis Colts star Peyton Manning downplays Super Bowl hype
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning has been playing down the importance of his debut Super Bowl game ahead of Sunday's event.
New Orleans born son of former New Orleans Saints quarterback Archie Manning and Olivia Manning, Peyton Manning, said: "Winning the Super Bowl is not a personal mission in any way for me."
And Peyton Manning, 30, continued: "I certainly would have hoped to have been here earlier as a player - we had some chances but it didn't work out.
"That's what we have right now (against the Chicago Bears in Miami), an opportunity, and it's one that we don't want to take for granted."
Peyton Manning is the only NFL player ever with 3,000 passing yards in each of his first nine seasons and he is optimistic about his future in the sport of American football:
"I feel that right now I am in the middle of my career," Peyton Manning said.
"Each year you learn something new. I am just starting the second half of my career," Peyton Manning added.
