Disgraced NFL star Michael Vick visits PETA HQ
In August 2007, NFL quarterback Michael Vick pleaded guilty to dogfighting charges, but now the disgraced player has met with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) president Ingrid Newkirk and taken a course in "Developing Empathy for Animals."
Last month, Michael Vick made a visit to the PETA headquarters in Norfolk, Virginia, for a private meeting with Ingrid Newkirk who told him that PETA advocates an end to all exploitation and needless violence based on prejudice, including the prejudice against other species.
Ingrid Newkirk also informed Michael Vick that PETA would give him information that would allow him to better live up to his responsibility to advise children not to be cruel to animals.
PETA say that Michael Vick said he was willing to learn and that he believes that everything happens for a reason. Michael Vick made an apology to PETA and to "everyone" for "what I have done to dogs."
Michael Vick went back again in September to PETA to take the course, which looks at who animals are, alternatives to cruelty, animal protection philosophy, and humane lesson plans.
