Chicago Bears won't renew Ron Rivera's contract
The Chicago Bears will not be renewing defensive co-ordinator Ron Rivera's contract, it has been reported.
Born in Fort Ord, California, Ron Rivera is the first American of Puerto Rican and Mexican descent to play in the NFL. Ron Rivera was a member of the 1985 Chicago Bears who won at the Super Bowl XX and in his recent career he has been the defensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears, however, that role is about to end.
The Chicago Bears were defeated in the Super Bowl two weeks ago by the Indianapolis Colts, although the Chicago Bears had one of the NFL's best defence line ups for last season.
Ron Rivera was recently interviewed for the job of head coach for the Dallas Cowboys and San Diego Chargers, however, he was unlucky - Dallas Cowboys took on Chargers defensive co-ordinator Wade Phillips and San Diego Chargers chose to hire San Francisco 49ers offensive co-ordinator Norv Turner.
