Brett Favre to play for New York Jets not Green Bay Packers
Brett Favre is back out of retirement but he will not be playing for Green Bay Packers again. The team have confirmed they are going to trade him to the New York Jets.
38-year-old American football star Favre had said he was reversing his decision to retire, which gave the Green Bay Packers a problem because they already had Aaron Rodgers set to start at quarterback, which was his normal position.
So they decided to trade him and Favre will join the New York Jets in return for a pick in the NFL draft and the more games he takes part in the higher the choice will be.
New York Jets chairman Woody Johnson is really pleased that Favre is joining the team and said: "I am looking forward to seeing Brett Favre in a New York Jets uniform."
Favre's old team, the Green Bay Packers issued a statement which read: "Brett has had a long and storied career in Green Bay, and we owe him a tremendous debt of gratitude for everything he accomplished on the field and for the impact he made in the state.
"It is with some sadness that we make this announcement, but also with the desire for certainty that will allow us to move the team and organisation forward in the most positive way possible."
