JaMarcus Russell signs with Oakland Raiders
Quarterback American footballer JaMarcus Russell, who was the top pick in this year's NFL draft, has signed the NFL's biggest-ever rookie deal with the Oakland Raiders.
JaMarcus Russell had refused to agree terms with the Oakland Raiders until he got what he wanted and because of his holding out like this he was unavailable for Sunday's season-opener in which the Oakland Raiders lost 36-21 to Detroit Lions.
JaMarcus Russell 's six-year contract is said to be valued at $61m, with $29m guaranteed.
A jubilant JaMarcus Russell said: "It's been a long time and I can't wait to get out there,"
JaMarcus Russell is joining an NFL team that has kept being ranked among the NFL's worst in offence in recent years so it will be interesting to see how the Oakland Raiders fare in future with his skills added to the team.
